HOLY Cross College's (HCC) U16 squad headed to Omagh Rugby Club to play the final blitz of the Ulster Rugby U16 plate competition after winning their play-off game last week.

The boys faced tough competition in all four of their games, showing true grit and determination to end the blitz with three wins and one draw.

It was a credit to all that were part of the squad as this team only began to play rugby three and a half years ago.

The results were as follows:

HCC 7 Monaghan Collegiate 7

HCC 19 St Patricks, Keady 7

HCC 7 Cullybackey 5

HCC 12 St Macartans 7

Try scorers on the day K Larkin, S Neeson and E O'Neill.

"Congratulations to the Year 12 boys who played their last game. They have been great ambassadors for the sport and the school," a school spokesperson said.

"A massive thanks to Ruan De Beer from Strabane RFC and Mr Campbell who have have made huge strides forward with this squad all year.

"A final note of thanks must also go to Ulster Rugby and Omagh RFC for providing the fixtures and facilities to allow the boys to experience another sport in Holy Cross College."
