A GREAT turnout from Strabane Triathlon Club (STC) took to the start line of the Walled City 10 Mile Road Race on Saturday, enjoying a fantastic day for racing.
Conditions were kind to the runners with cool temperatures, light winds and dry skies making it ideal for settling into a steady rhythm over the 10-mile distance.
The course, starting and finishing in the city, offered a mix of long steady stretches and testing drags that kept everyone honest throughout.
Despite the challenges of the route, the atmosphere along the way was superb, with plenty of local support cheering runners on and giving that extra boost when it was needed most.
Leading the Strabane Tri pack home was Michael Duncan, putting in a strong run to finish in 1:08:42.
Close behind, Geoff McGillian continued his consistent form with a solid 1:14:23, followed by Charles Breslin who crossed the line in 1:15:10 after a well-paced effort.
John Muldoon kept the momentum going with a strong 1:18:26, while Sinead O’Kane delivered an excellent performance to finish in 1:24:26, showing great strength across the distance.
Also running well on the day was Paul McNamee in 1:25:49, followed by Aideen Millar who ran strongly for 1:30:52.
Not far behind, Marie McGillian finished in 1:31:59, with Carol Devine close on her heels in 1:32:35 after a determined run.
A club spokesperson said: "Well done to everyone who took part and represented the club so well.
"Great running all round and another brilliant day out on the roads!"
The club was also represented at the Omagh Duathlon on Sunday, with Andy Devine making the trip to Omagh to take on the challenge.
Andy lined up among a strong field for the run–bike–run format and delivered a solid performance from start to finish.
Settling into a steady rhythm on the opening run, Andy then pushed hard on the bike leg before digging deep on the final run to bring it home.
Crossing the line with a finishing time of 1:09:16, he put in a great effort and represented Strabane Triathlon Club proudly.
The club spokesperson added: "A big thank you goes to Omagh Triathlon Club for their excellent organisation and hospitality, making it a thoroughly enjoyable event for everyone involved.
"Well done Andy!"
