BREADY Cricket Club's Kathryn Rough has been appointed the new chief executive North West Cricket Union (NWCU).

She has formally stepped into the role vacated earlier this year by Peter McCartney.

Kathryn had been carrying out many of the post’s regular duties alongside Brian Allen, on an interim basis up to last week, but following an interview process, Brian Dougherty has now confirmed her appointment on a permanent basis.

The North West chairman said that he had no doubt that the new CEO would ensure a smooth transition while at the same time, wanting to put her own stamp on the post.

“We would like to congratulate Kathryn on her appointment in what was a very competitive process and thank her and Brian Allen for keeping the wheels turning over in what was another busy season” he said.

“In the coming weeks, myself and the Board look forward to working with Kathryn and her team, taking stock and consulting our clubs and stakeholders again as we review and plan ahead.”

For her part, Kathryn said she was thrilled to have been entrusted with the post and was looking forward to getting started in an official capacity.

“Over the past six months I’ve had the privilege of serving as Interim CEO for the NWCU.

"It’s a role that gave me valuable insight into the opportunities and challenges we face as a Union.

“I look forward to building on this foundation; working alongside clubs, players and volunteers.

“I intend to step up to the role with energy, purpose and a clear vision to help strengthen the organisation at every level and to grow participation and ensure cricket continues to thrive in our communities.

“I plan to start with focusing on our expanding schools programme, developing our winter pathways and enhancing our club forums to ensure our members’ voices are central to how we move forward in shaping the future.

“I am very much looking forward to getting started.”
