A STRABANE man who recently competed at the National Skeet Home Countries International Tournament has been recognised with a Mayoral reception.
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Ruairí McHugh, hosted the civic reception at the Guildhall for Marcus Logue to honour his achievements, with friends and family also in attendance.
Marcus, a member of Dennett Valley Gun Club, represented Ireland at the tournament.
Skeet is a shooting sport in which a clay target is thrown from a trap to simulate the flight of a bird.
Mayor McHugh said: "It was my pleasure to welcome Marcus Logue to the Mayor's Parlour for a civic reception in recognition of his outstanding achievement representing Ireland in the 2025 National Skeet Home Countries International Tournament.
"Marcus has done our district proud, and it was an honour to celebrate his success alongside family and friends.
"Wishing him continued success in the future."
The proposal to host the reception was made by Strabane independent councillor, Raymond Barr, who was also in attendance.
"I was privileged to nominate Marcus Logue from Strabane for a Mayoral reception after being selected to represent Ireland for the second time at the National Skeet (clay pigeon shooting) championships," he said.
"Another positive achievement for Strabane thanks to Marcus. Hopefully we could have an olympian from the town soon.
"Thank you to Mayor Ruairí McHugh for accepting my request."
