From Limavady to Lanzarote, success for Strabane triathletes

STRABANE Triathlon Club (STC) proudly celebrated a weekend of phenomenal achievements with members showcasing strength, spirit and endurance from the roads of Limavady to the volcanic landscapes of Lanzarote.

In Limavady, Adam Ward, fresh off his success at the Belfast Marathon, stormed to victory at the Roe Valley Sprint Triathlon on Saturday, May 17 with a blistering time of 58:53 - a t top-class performance that secured the win!

John Muldoon also flew the STC flag high, completing his first triathlon of the season in a strong 1:20:55, laying a solid foundation for the races ahead.

Meanwhile, on the volcanic island of Lanzarote, the club extends huge congratulations to the legendary 'Lanza 5' - Paul Coyle, Gerard Coyle, John Gallagher, John McDermott and Shaun Lynch - who took on the iconic and brutally tough Ironman Lanzarote.

Paul Coyle put in a phenomenal performance, finishing in 12:28:31 and placing within the top 50 of his age group, a truly impressive result on one of the hardest Ironman courses in the world.

John Gallagher returned to the island with determination and resilience, completing the race in 13:52:05, conquering both the heat and the hills.

Gerard Coyle tackled Lanzarote’s relentless course with strength and focus, finishing in 13:32:30 - a testament to his unwavering dedication.

Shaun Lynch officially became an Ironman on Saturday, May 17, completing the race in 14:35:33. This was a massive achievement and a moment to cherish - congratulations Shaun!

John McDermott completed his third Ironman on the Lanzarote course with an exceptional time of 14:11:34.

Even more inspiring, John's undertaking was in aid of Cairde na Gaelscoil, combining athletic excellence with a powerful cause.
