Annual Toy and Gift Appeal launched

THE countdown to Christmas has begun, and with it comes an opportunity to make a real difference

Strabane Enterprise Agency, together with the tenants of Orchard Road Industrial Estate, have arranged a toy/gift appeal in the lead up to Christmas to help local families at this difficult time of year.

The donations will be collected by the Social Services Family and Childcare Team in Strabane who will then distribute the gifts to those who are most in need within the local area.

Natalie Sills, from the Family and Childcare Team, explained: "This is a difficult tome for everyone so we really appreciate even the smallest of gifts.

"We believe every child should have a present to open on Christmas morning."

Her colleague, Alicia McBride, added: "Thank-you to everyone who is willing to help by giving donations.

"This will make a child's Christmas.

"The efforts from last year helped many families within the local district."

All donations must be dropped to Strabane Enterprise Agency before December 12.

The initiative was officially launched at the Strabane Enterprise Offices last week with Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Ruairí McHugh, in attendance.

Speaking at the launch, Mayor McHugh, praised those said: "I am delighted to officially launch Strabane Enterprise Agency's Toy and Gift Appeal.

"This initiative really captures the essence of what's most important at Christmas and the true spirit of the season.

"Your support has a real and lasting impact on families who may be facing difficult circumstances, and it brings hope and joy at a time when it is needed most.

"I want to commend Strabane Enterprise Agency and all the partners involved - their commitment ensures that every gift is delivered with dignity, care and compassion,

"I encourage anyone who is able to get involved this year. Even the smallest donation can make a big difference.

"Together, we can ensure that every child in our district experiences the warmth, excitement and magic this season should bring."

If you would like to donation to this great cause, ensure that all gifts and toys are new due to insurance reasons.

Donations are needed for children and young people aged 0-18.
