Check the facts before buying an e-scooter - Police

POLICE in Derry and Strabane are urging people to check the facts before they buy anyone an e-scooter this Christmas.

They are asking the public to familiarise themselves with the law surrounding the use of the motorised vehicles.

A spokesperson said: "With Christmas approaching, many people are considering e-scooters as gifts.

"Before you buy, please take a moment to check the law. E-scooters can only be used on private land with the landowner’s permission.

"They can’t be used on public roads, pavements or cycle lanes.

"We don’t want anyone’s Christmas gift to end in disappointment.
