Hole-in-one at Newtownstewart club

WET conditions returned at the weekend but didn’t prevent some excellent scores including a hole-in-one at Newtownstewart.

Ciaran McGarvey won the Dimac Sports Grounds Stroke on Saturday with a super 64 Nett off 21. Stuart Mortland had to settle for the Gross prize with his 76 off 7 on break of tie.

Amid a welter of good scores, there were divisional prizes for Keith Pollock, Conor Devine and Trevor McGavigan who also aced the seventh hole on his way to a 65 Nett.

Noel Gailey won the Sunday Stableford with 37 points off 22 and there were divisional wins for Sean McGuigan, Paddy Flanagan and Paul Campbell.

Congratulations to the four ULTRA qualifiers this week; James Jack, Ronnie Jack (runner up in Division Two with 35 points on break-of-tie), Norman Hall and Alan Buchanan.

Gordon Gallagher won Division Twi but is already through to the final. Qualifying continues every Wednesday and is open to gents, ladies and visitors.

Gerarda Fitzpatrick won last Thursday’s Ladies competition sponsored by MacNamee’s Centra Newtownstewart. Her 39 points off 19 was enough to see off the field with section prizes for Brona Slevin, Captain Maxine McGowan, and Denise McCaffrey.

The Nine-Hole prize went to Joan McCaffrey.

This week’s competitions include the McNamee Hardware Stableford on Saturday and the WW Tyres Stableford on Sunday.
