Captains' drive-in marks start of new golfing season at Newtownstewart

SATURDAY'S ceremonial Captains' Drive In officially marked the start of Newtownstewart's golfing season.

New joint captains Maxine McGowan and Seamus Byrne teed off in glorious sunshine warmly supported by a huge turnout of members.

Leading the way in the mixed team event over 12 holes the captains welcomed everyone and wished them a healthy and enjoyable year of golf.

Winners on the day were Paul Thompson, Kenny Henderson, Clarke Elkin and Seamus Mullan with 64 points.

Runners-up were a team consisting of Brian O'Kane, Trevor McGavigan, Pat McLaughlin and Therese Mullan with 62 points on break of tie.

Tomorrow (Thursday) is the ladies opening nine-hole 'Bring and Win' competition, followed by an evening meal and a question and answer session on golf rules.
