Big turnout for Captain's Week at Newtownstewart

CAPTAIN Eddie Cartwright’s prize at Newtownstewart was won by Colin McCrory with an excellent 66 nett off 11.

John McNamee was second and David Miller third. Stuart Ballantine won the Gross prize with a fine 70.

There were divisional prizes for Ross Morrison, Kenny Henderson and Eamonn McCullagh.

Other prizes went to Barry Harper (Front Nine), William Gillen (Back Nine), Chris Wilson (Nearest the Pin) and Ryan Coyle (Longest Drive).

Gregory Beckett was best guest and Steven Caldwell was best visitor.

Friday’s Captain’s Shootout was delayed by heavy rain and played in soft conditions.

A tense knockout competition was won by Seamus Mullan with Stuart Ballantine runner-up.

The Captain’s Prize for ladies was well supported on Thursday with Caroline Verner taking the top prize, Catriona McCullagh second and Denise McCaffrey third. Hilary Russell won the Nine-hole prize.

The Captain’s Mixed had 28 pairs competing over 15 holes.

Trevor McGavigan and Yvonne Armstrong were the winners with an excellent 34 points. Second place went to Rodney Hamill and Lorna Armstrong with 31 points on break of tie.
