THE streets of Strabane town centre were deserted this morning as stores kept their shutters down and people heeded a warning to stay indoors until a red wind warning - the highest alert level - is lifted.
Storm Éowyn has battered the province bringing with it winds of more than 90mph and leaving 93,000 homes and businesses without power.
Schools, colleges, universities and most places of work are closed while most hospital appointments have also been cancelled.
The rare red weather warning will be in effect until 2pm.
