THREE volunteers from Owen Roes have been recognised by Tyrone GAA for their service to the club.

Donal 'Duck' McCay was presented with a gold Credo Award for over 50 years of service whilst Paul Phillips and Joe Hegarty were presented with silver Credo Awards for over 25 years service.

They attended the Tyrone GAA Centre in Garvaghey to receive the accolades.

"Donal is a founding member of Owen Roes and played on the first ever senior panel," a club spokesperson said.

"Throughout the past 50 plus years he has represented the club as a referee and has coached every youth age group.

"Duck, as he is widely known, also played for Shamrock's Hurling Club, one of the eleven hard men that played with four hurlers in the early 80s.

"He has served on countless committees, is one of our trusted resident umpires and volunteers countless hours each week developing and maintaining our pitch and grounds.

"For over 25 years, Paul has served his time as a player, youth coach, senior and reserve manager, and active committee member.

"However, his leadership in his current role as chairman has been among his most valuable contributions, guiding the club's growth and development with vision and integrity over the past two years.

"His commitment and passion continue to inspire everyone involved with the club.

"For over 25 years, Joe has held several positions within the club both on and off the field.

"Whilst still playing football for the club, he also took up the valued role of club referee which he held for many years as well as being one of our our resident photographers.

"He has held multiple positions within the club committee including secretary, County Board delegate and is our current PRO.

"He was also responsible for co-writing Club Maith which secured the club a gold award."
