McGrath joins Moyola Park on loan from Coleraine

TALENTED Aghyaran teenager, Cead McGrath, has joined Premier Intermediate League (PIL) side Moyola Park on loan.

The highly-rated central defender, who was captain of Derry City U20s last season, signed a three-year professional contract with Sports Direct Premiership club Coleraine last August and made his debut for the Bannsiders against Dollingstown on October 7.

The 17 year-old, who can also count Finn Harps, Glentoran and Sligo Rovers as his former clubs, has joined the current PIL leaders until the end of the season.

Cead commented: "I'm really happy to be joining Moyola on this loan until the end of the season after hearing so many great things about the club and their ambitions for the year.

"Also looking forward to working with the lads, the backroom staff and Marty as I know he has a background of developing young players similar to myself which really excites me so I'm buzzing to get going."

On the international scene, McGrath has been capped at youth level by both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Moyola manager, Marty Smith, is delighted to have secured McGrath for the remainder of the season.

"We are looking forward to welcoming Cead to the group," he said.

"He's got the qualities that we need here in the second half of the season.

"He is very highly though of by everyone at Coleraine and I'm delighted they see Moyola as the place to further aid his development.

"I believe he will play a significant role here between now and the end of the season."
