Sion Swifts Flames celebrate treble-winning season

THE Sion Swifts Flames, who have enjoyed yet another remarkable year, continue to set incredibly high standards for themselves.

In their first season at 11-a-side this group rose to the challenge brilliantly.

Victory in the D&D Summer Cup set the tone for what was to come.

The girls then delivered one of their finest achievements to date by winning the Foyle Cup, defeating GLS from Florida in a memorable final - no easy feat.

Their strong form continued abroad as they impressed in the Barcelona Girls Cup, performing brilliantly throughout the tournament, with star striker Lara picking up the Top Goalscorer Award.

To round off an unforgettable year, the Flames returned home to lift the U14 D&D Winter Cup at the Brandywell Stadium, completing a remarkable treble.

In that game, the girls showed their class with a superb attacking display that saw them score freely to secure the title against a determined Maiden City.

The victory makes the girls double D&D Cup Champions this year again - the icing on the cake of an amazing treble-winning season for the Flames.
