IT was a huge night for Strabane Athletic as Raymond Foy's side progressed to the next round of the BetMcLean Cup.
Athletic, who were marking their debut in the competition last night (Tuesday), defeated Championshup side Loughgall at Lakeview Park after extra-time.
Strabane led at the break thanks to Sean McCallion’s opener but Darragh Stewart knocked home an equaliser for the Villagers early in the second half.
Oisin Duffy restored the visitors’ advantage later in the game only for Kirk McLaughlin to hit Loughgall’s second with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining.
That was how it stayed until a few minutes from the end of extra-time when Cathal McShane hit the winner for Strabane to clinch a 3-2 win.
"Strabane AFC are through to the next round of the BetMcLean Cup after a dramatic late winner in extra time from Cathal McShane," the club said after memorable victory.
"A thrilling contest from start to finish, with the team showing great character and determination to get the job done.
"Well done to all the players and management."
Elsewhere, Dergview suffered a heavy defeat going down 7-3 to Premiership side, Larne, at Darragh Park.
