A MAYORAL reception has been held to mark a successful season for Artigarvan Football Club.

The north Tyrone men were crowned champions of Division Two in the North West Junior League (NWJL) and will compete in Division One next season.

Hosted in the Mayor's Parlour at the Guildhall, players, officials and members of the club's youth attended the event hosted by Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Ruairí McHugh.

Speaking after the reception, Mayor said: "It was a pleasure to welcome Artigarvan Football Club to the Guildhall for a special presentation marking the club’s fantastic 2024/2025 season.

"Congratulations to Adam Miller, team manager, the players, club officials, and supporters on winning the North West Division Two Junior League Championship - a tremendous achievement that reflects the hard work, talent and dedication throughout the club.

"Great to see so many proud parents and team members join in the celebrations. Well done to all involved."

DUP Alderman Gary Wilkinson who proposed the reception was also in attendance at the event.

"It was a real pleasure to attend the Mayor’s reception celebrating Artigarvan Football Club’s fantastic achievement in winning the North West Division Two title," he said.

"It was a great chance to reflect on the team's hard work and success throughout the season and to recognise everyone involved with the club.

"It was also great to see the youth team there supporting the first team — they’ve got big shoes to fill, but it’s clear they’ve got great aspirations and a bright future ahead.

"It’s always a joy to highlight the talent and strong community spirit we have in the Sperrin area.

"Wishing Artigarvan FC all the very best for the seasons ahead - I’ll be keeping an eye on their progress!"
