The future is bright for Sion Swifts Ladies & Girls FC

SION Swifts Ladies & Girls FC are currently going from strength to strength in the local ladies and girls soccer scene across age groups with rrecent successes both locally and regionally, setting up the club for a fantastic future in the sport.

Recent wins by the U10 girls team winning the D&D Winter Plate, and then further wins by the Under 12 Flames Team and U14 teams have seen them lift the D&D Winter Cup.

A club spokesperson said: "Both teams have excelled this season and this is evident by the amazing team work and skill shown both on the field and off, development work continues for the girls and is evident in the results this season.

"It was fantastic to see such a high standard of football from all girls teams throughout the competition and in the finals."

The U19s compete in the NIFL Premier Women's Academy League.

"Young players were added to those existing players from those who moved to seniors this season," the spokesperson added.

"After a slow start, the new setup began to gel and results came against Clifftonville, Glentoran Linfield and Derry.

"The SBYL campaign has now started with the girls winning their opening fixture.

"There is a clear pathway for young players and the coaches and setup in place for girls to develop and aim toward senior football.

"At Sion we feel that not only are technical abilities important, but also developing the right ethic and developing the person.
