STRABANE country singer, Ryan Lynch, stands on the threshold of reaching the semi-finals of Ireland’s most prestigious country music show - but he needs the support of the people of Tyrone to do it.

Ryan is a contestant on the current season of Glór Tíre, the long-running, hit country music show broadcast on Irish language station TG4.

Northern Irish singers regularly make the semi-finals and grand finals of the series, which commands a dedicated audience across Ulster.

Ryan will appear on the Glór Tíre Elimination Round on TG4 on Tuesday, February 24, at 9.30pm, where he will compete against fellow Northern Irish singers, Maeve Farrell (Down), Jordan McPolin (Down), and Marty Breslin for that one remaining semi-final place.

“It would be an absolute dream come true to reach the Glór Tíre semi-finals,” says Ryan.

“It’s the biggest stage in Ireland for country music, and to be given a chance to showcase more of my music would be a huge honour for an up-and-coming artist like myself.”

The power to make Ryan’s ambition a reality lies with Glór Tire viewers - especially those in Tyrone and across Northern Ireland.

Fans and supporters can download the Glór Tíre app from Google Play and the Apple App Store and get voting for Ryan.

“To the people of Tyrone, I’d say, ‘xould you please download the app and vote for me?’,” says Ryan.

“It would be incredible to reclaim the Glór Tíre crown for Tyrone.

"We’re incredibly proud of our country music artists and the many legends who hail from here, such as Philomena Begley and Hugo Duncan.

"Let’s bring it home!”

Indeed, Philomena Begley has been a supporter of Ryan, with the Strabane man having the opportunity to play support to her in recent weeks, an experience he describes as “amazing”.

Ryan, who released his debut album, 'Mr Sunshine', last year, is determined to make Tyrone proud and is thanking the county for the support it has shown already.

“I have been blown away by the level of support that I’ve got from people across Tyrone,” he continues.

“I’ve been lucky to meet so many people who said they’re excited to see what lies ahead for me.

"Young and old, the encouragement has been amazing!”

The Glór Tíre elimination round will be presented by Aoife Ní Thuairisg.

Resident judges, Jó Ní Chéide and Caitriona Ní Shuilleabháin, will be joined by guest judge, singer-songwriter, Marc Roberts.
