LOCAL musician and mindfulness coach, Justin Logue from Castlederg, has struck a heartfelt chord with his newly released single 'Advice', a soulful track aimed at inspiring people of all ages to appreciate the good times and persevere through the bad.
The song, which has already received an outpouring of positive feedback, blends meaningful lyrics with a stripped-back, singer-songwriter style.
Justin, who is well-known for his work with children through his program 'Move to the Beat with Justin', says 'Advice' was written not for fame or recognition, but as a genuine message for listeners to live life to the fullest.
“The response to the song has been great,” Justin said. “People are messaging me non-stop.
"They’re stopping me on the street and telling me how much they enjoy it and how much it means to them.”
Originally written in 2018 while Justin was still performing with The Logues, the song was never officially recorded by the band.
Over the years, it made appearances in acoustic sets, and fans continued to ask about it.
After The Logues disbanded, Justin decided the time was right to finally bring the track to life.
“I felt the song was too strong not to record. I had a bit of free time and took it upon myself to record all the instruments and bring it to life exactly how I wanted," Justin stated.
Produced alongside Terry McGinty at Valley Music Studio in Ballybofey, the track features an emotive cello performance by acclaimed cellist Laura McFadden, adding depth to the already moving composition.
“I always wanted a cello in my music. Laura is an absolutely amazing cellist, she uplifted the whole song,” Justin shared.
The message behind 'Advice' is simple yet powerful. With a chorus that encourages listeners to “live each day like it’s gonna be your last. Look towards your future, and forget about your past,” Justin hopes the song serves as a kind of daily affirmation.
“Whenever I say, ‘Enjoy the good times, survive the bad,’ I don’t want people to just say it, I want them to live it.
"It’s the good moments that give us the strength to push through the harder times," Justin said.
The accompanying music video, now available on YouTube, captures the raw authenticity of the track.
Directed and edited by Michael Gillespie, the video opens with Justin turning on the camera and closes with him turning it off, a personal and intimate delivery of his message to the world.
"It was pre Covid that I wrote the song, and whenever I performed it on live streams, it really touched people. And even know, five years after Covid, the message still lasts," Justin said.
Justin continued: “I wanted it to feel personal, rather than trying to tell a story. I worked with Michael Gillespie who is a fantastic musician and video editor.
"I went to his place and we kept it simple and let the music tell the story. This time, I wanted to do something completely different."
Though much of Justin’s current work focuses on mindfulness for children, he emphasizes that this song is for everyone.
“Even though my job is to work with children, this song is for adults too. I’m practicing what I preach," he added.
Despite no current plans for a tour or album release, Justin continues to write music, both for young audiences and adults, while staying busy with 'Move to the Beat With Justin', which is booked out through Christmas and into 2026.
“You never know what the future holds. I’m not chasing likes or anything. I just want people to listen to the song, take the advice, and genuinely enjoy every moment they can," Justin shared.
Justin extends heartfelt thanks to producer Terry McGinty, cellist Laura McFadden, video editor Michael Gillespie, and his family and friends for their ongoing support.
