A WEALTH of talent was on display at Strabane Academy recently as pupils took to the stage for the 'Search for a Star' contest.

The event, which included a matinee attended by local primary school pupils and an evening performance, saw pupils showcase their talents with a number of solo and group performances in comedy, dance, drama and singing.

A school spokesperson said: "What a fantastic night of outstanding talent and entertainment.

"Thirteen acts took to the Academy stage to entertain and boy did they rise to the challenge.

"The audience clapped and cheered their way through the evening and our guest judges, Ryan Quinn and Emma Lindsay, had nothing but praise for each and every person who took to the stage.

"We are so proud of every one of our pupils who braved the stage in our Search for a Star.

"Congratulations to our matinee winners as voted for by our primary school visitors, our talented Highland Dancers.

"Congratulations also to our top three acts of the night: 1; Drummer Boys (Jacob and Bobby), 2; Freya with her solo of 'Die with a Smile' and 3; Year 8 & 9 Drama Group with their 'Wizard of Oz' sketch.

"We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did. Till next time.."
