Competition launches for photographs of iconic church in Strabane

A PHOTOGRAPHIC competition has been launched for images of one of the town's most historic structures.

Built in 1985, the Church of the Immaculate Conception on Barrack Street is one of Strabane's most recognisable landmarks.

Now, a competition featuring original photographs of the beautiful church is underway.

A spokesperson for the Restoration Team said: "As part of our latest project, 'Sacred Treasures - Restoring, Illuminating, Cataloguing and Maintaining', the Church Restoration team invite you to submit original photographs of the Church of the Immaculate Conception for our photographic competition.

"The photo can be of any aspect of the church: inside or outside, windows, stonework, Stations of the Cross, icon, altar, baptismal font and so on

"The competition is open to all amateur photographers."

The closing date for submissions is 5pm on May 31, with judging taking place the following week.

"The winners will be announced at 5pm Friday, June 7 on our Facebook group page," the spokesperson continued.

"Prizes are ‘In Strabane’ vouchers of £50, £30 and £20 to the three photographs that have been judged the most interesting an original.

"The ten best photographs will be mounted and displayed locally."

"By entering you are agreeing to allow your photographs to be used for publicity of our project," the church spokesperson added.
