THESE delicious pasties are a great way to use up the festive leftovers.
Our healthy eating columnist, Sharron McCormick explains: "The cheese sauce turns what can sometimes be a bland dish into something much tastier and best of all they will be a real hit with the whole family."
Ingredients
Makes six to eight pasties
l 200g leftover cooked turkey
l 200g leftover cooked ham
l 250ml unsweetened almond milk
l One tablespoon cornflour
l Two tablespoons fresh parmesan cheese
l One sheet of light puff pastry
Method
1: Preheat oven 180 degrees/gas mark 4.
2: Mix the cornflour with a little milk. Add the remaining milk to a saucepan and heat until almost boiling.
3: Stir in the cheese and cornflour. Continue to stir until thickened.
4: Chop up the ham and turkey. Mix into the sauce.
5: Remove from the heat and pour into a cold bowl. This will help it to cool quicker.
6: Unroll the puff pastry and place onto a sheet of baking paper.
7: place another sheet of baking paper on top and gently roll out until the pastry is approximately another 1/3-1/2 bigger.
8: Remove top layer of baking paper. Cut the pastry into six to eight oblong sections.
9: Place a couple of spoonfuls of the turkey and ham filling onto one half of the pastry, avoiding the sides.
10: Carefully fold over the pastry to form the pastie.
"This is easier if you use the underneath baking paper to guide it and then gently remove the folded paper with a knife," Sharron advises.
11: Crimp then edges of the pasties with a fork all the way around each one.
12: Slide the pasties with the baking paper onto an oven tray.
13: Cook in the oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden.
Calores per pastie if making approx 242-288
