LIFFORD Strabane AC had a total of five senior athletes in action over the course of the weekend.
On Saturday, Lifford Strabane AC was represented by two senior athletes, Paul Kelly and Garreth McCullagh at the prestigious Seeley Cup 10K which is hosted by Willowfield Harriers, Belfast. This event is renowned for attracting a plethora of talent, with a total of 844 athletes toeing the line.
Both athletes had a fantastic run with Paul Kelly finishing in a superb time of 35:49, just seconds from a personal best, closely followed by Garreth McCullagh running a new personal best in a super time of 36:06pb.
Closer to home at the Derry Parkrun, the club had two athletes at this event. First timer at this event was Lifford Strabane AC, Martin Kelly. Martin used this run as a training run finishing in a great time of 20:28. Regular attendee Josh Stuart finished his 152nd Parkrun in a fine time of 22:24.
Members also participated on Sunday, at the annual ‘5K Turkey Trot’ hosted by Letterkenny AC, sponsored by M&S. This race requires all race entrants to predict their finish time and run with no watches or devices of any sort – a real test of how well people know their pace.
Lifford Strabane AC senior athlete and coach, Chris Cuskelly, was among the 193 runners who took to the starting line. Chris’s predicted time and finish times were 20:36 and 21:01.

Four Lifford Strabane AC juvenile members, Elsa Moore, Ashleigh McArdle, Wilson Craig and Charlie McElwaine, have been selected to represent Donegal at the upcoming All-Ireland Uneven Ages Cross Country Championships. Congratulations and good luck in your forthcoming races.
The Couch to 5K Programme continues Tuesday and Thursday at 6.30pm. This consists of training on both Tuesday and Thursday evenings. “Please wear suitable clothing and footwear for exercising in,” the spokesperson added.
Juvenile training continues on Monday at 6.15pm and Wednesday at 6.15pm for over 10’s only. The Walking Group runs on Monday and Wednesday at 6.30pm on both evenings.
Adult training is held on Tuesday and Thursdays at 6.45pm. Lifford Strabane AC caters for all abilities. All training sessions are coach led. New members always welcome.
