THE first preference votes are in for the Sperrin District Electoral Area (DEA) and the DUP's Allan Bresland has topped the poll.
He narrowly pipped current Strabane MLA., Michaela Boyle, to top spot.
The DUP man took 1,156 first preference votes and the Sinn Féin woman polled 1,153 first preference votes.
The quota for this DEA is 1,364. No candidate reached the quota to be deemed elected.
The next stage is the exclusion of a "heartbroken" Indpendent Corey French who polled 104 first preference votes.
Also eliminated is Independent candidate, Pauline McHenry.
