Late goal scuppers Dergview. thumbnailDergview's Graeme Taylor challenges for a header.

DERGVIEW will enter into the split off the back of a defeat after Ryan Logue's 81st minute strike sealed the points for Limavady United at Darragh Park on Saturday.

In unseasonably mild weather on a heavy pitch, United started brightly, and McCloskey had an early chance, shooting from outside the box, but he was denied by McCusker.

On ten minutes, a good move saw Logue put Bradley in on goal, but McCusker was quick to react and the chance was foiled.

Dergview had their first effort on 14 minutes, when McManus' shot was well wide.

On 20 minutes, United had a scare when McGlynn left four defenders in his wake as he rampaged down the left, along the bye line, before Wells bravely blocked his stinging shot.

But United clicked into gear on 23 minutes, and Bradley was unlucky to be denied by a last ditch blocks he was poised to score.

Next minute, Logue saw his volley deflected wide. However Falconer hit back, latching onto a long ball from the back, and fired wide, as Wells had unwisely dashed too far off his line.

On 28 minutes Ryan Campbell did well to cut the ball back to McManus, but he blasted over, and eight minutes later, Campbell himself somehow got off a low curling shot which Wells claimed at the second attempt.

United ended the half on top, and Hume was denied twice in the space of twenty seconds by McCusker, firstly being blocked from point blank range inside the box, and as he went for the rebound his shot hit the keeper's frame.

After the break, Dergview's best chance came on 52 minutes, as Matt Buchanan's teasing cross was met by Campbell, but he could not convert. Almost immediately McManus had an opportunity, but the Limavady defence stood firm.

After the hour United began to exert pressure, and Logue's deflected shot was heading in before McCusker intervened, tipping the ball over for a corner. Another good move by the visitors ended with Devlin crossing for McCloskey to connect with a volley at the back post, but McCusker was there again.

Five minutes later Hume was left holding his head again, as McCusker blocked his effort from close range, but the ball fell perfectly for him to reset, only to see McNulty's last ditch block keep the ball out.

One goal was going to decide this full blooded contest, and it fell to Limavady, with a fine team goal in which Hume played a pivotal role, setting up Logue just outside the box, and the winger picked his spot to fire low into the far corner for the winner.

United withstood some late pressure, including appeals for a penalty when Campbell went over under a challenge in the box.
