ON Saturday, November 18, the Derry Parkrun was the choice of venue for four Lifford Strabane AC members, Dayle Armstrong, Joanne Duncan, Doreen Floyd and Paddy Canning, who commenced in the 'Couch 2 5K' programme back in Se ptember.

These athletes stayed focused and continued to improve as the weeks went past. The weather was perfect for racing. The course itself starts off behind the Council Offices, The Marina taking runners over the Peace Bridge, following the path alongside St. Columb's Park before turning at the 2.5 Km mark to the finish line located at The Marina.

This race was a real tester for these athletes as they had never raced/ran this distance before commencing the programme. This achievement should encourage them to continue with their training and gave them confidence to take to many more start lines in the future. The group finished off by celebrating their achievement with coffee and buns.

Then on Sunday November 19, Lifford Strabane AC was represented by 19 athletes at the annual Remembrance 10K at Finn Valley, Stranorlar. This race had an excess of 500 participants in attendance, and the morning itself was cool and dry.

First to the finish line for Lifford Strabane AC after very strong cross-country races was Conor Gallagher. Conor placed seventh overall in an excellent time of 35:52, Paul Dillion was next in a superb time of 39:09. Third senior mal finisher for the club was James Stevenson in a great time of 39:49.

The ladies were led home by Rhonda Green. Rhonda had a strong run to finish in a super time of 52:42, while Eileen Crawford was second female finisher for the club. Eileen finished in the fine time of 55:21.

Third female finisher and new to running was Catherine Breslin. This was Catherine's first 10k race finishing in an impressive time of 59:21.

Other club members and finishing times were:
