EAMON Curry has taken over the reins at Strabane Athletic after team manager Neil Carlin has stepped down from his role last week.

Carlin cited personal reasons for his sudden departure, and he made his decision known to the players at a team meeting last Thursday.

Assistant manager Curry steps up to take over the running of the club's senior teams, and the club expressed their confidence in the former Tyrone Milk Cup boss to take the club forward, despite Saturday's extra-time Craig Memorial Cup semi-final defeat to Maiden City .

Carlin wished the club all the best and said he was disappointed to be leaving at this time.

The club statement read: "Strabane Athletic expresses sincere thanks to Neil Carlin for his dedication and hard work over last season and the early stages of this one.

"Under Neil's stewardship the first team progressed and recorded some excellent results.

He leaves a squad that allows the club to be optimistic about future development.

Neil will always be welcome at Strabane Athletic and we wish him well."
