Match abandoned after serious injury

STRABANE's home game with Burndennett on Saturday was forced to be abandoned after an horrendous injury to the visitors' Aaron McDermott.

Aaron, a former Strabane player, was chasing a ball to the boundary and slid headlong into benched seating area, breaking his leg and being treated for other head and neck injuries.

He was taken by ambulance to Altnagelvin hospital and was moved to the Royal Hospital in Belfast on Saturday evening for further treatment.

Burndennett offered a message of support to Aaron and his family, and wished the player a swift recovery: "On behalf of the club, we would like to wish Aaron McDermott all the best on his recovery. We will have you in our prayers and be with you every step of the eay bud. All the best from all at BCC."

Strabane also offered their best wishes to Aaron: "Strabane Cricket Club would like to send our thoughts and prayers to our former player Aaron McDermott, who sustained serious injeries during our game with Burndennett at Strabane Park, and also Aaron's family at this time."
