The win moves Swifts to third in the NIFL Women's Premiership, with a game in hand over leaders Newry City and second-place Linfield.

The home side led 2-0 and 3-2 at times in the game, but the sides were locked until McGlade unleashed a cracking right foot shot from 25 yards to seal a great win for the Sion girls.

"It was a goal fit to win any game at any level," said Swifts' boss Tony McGinley. "Chloe is actually predominantly a left-footed player. It was a super strike."

Swifts began brightly with two goals in the fist 10, minutes courtesy of Julie-Anne Herrity and Geny Decker. The hosts were on the front foot and looked impressive going forward, but they somehow lost their lead on the run-up to the break, as first a Glens' free kick and then a Swifts' defensive error put the Belfast girls back in the game.

With the game turned on it's head, Swifts came out firing again in the second half, and regained the initiative when Amy Boyle-Carr cut in from the right to expertly curl into the top corner. Back came Glentoran though with just five minutes to go, and they levelled from a free header from a corner.

However Sion were not to be denied the win, and Zoe McGlynn picked the ball outside the box up to tee up McGlade for that stunning strike.

"It bewildered us at how the game was at 3-3, but the girls showed great character at the end. It was the strongest squad we've had so far, so it shows we are strengthening at the minute. With four games to go, we have an outside chance to be challenging at the end of the season."

SION Swifts put in the "performance of the season" according to manager Tony McGinley, defeating Crusaders Strikers 4-0 on their home patch on Wednesday, June 14.

"It was a complete performance. We were dominant and looked secure at the back. There was aggression and intensity, and we looked confident on the ball. That is what we are about."

The visitors that got off to a flying start, making their early possession count with a goal on eight minutes when Chloe McGlade scored.

Crusaders struggled to get going and were second to every ball especially in midfield. The travelling team doubled their lead on the 22nd minute, a long ball evading the Crusaders defence, and Geny Decker finished well.

Crusaders had a couple of chances to pull a goal back, with Niamh Barr in the Sion goal saving well from a Clare Carson effort, and Amy McGivern was unlucky not to find the net from the resulting corner.

Sion then grabbed their third, the Crues 'keeper initially making a good save with the ball breaking to the Amy Boyle-Carr who made no mistake from close range.

McGinley's charges scored their fourth of the evening nine minutes into the second half, a massive deflection on the Sion shot from Zoe McGlynn taking it away from the Crusaders keeper.
