Another defeat for Dergview thumbnailAaron Walsh in action for Dergview against Loughgall.

A FIRST half penalty from Andrew Hoey helped Loughgall leapfrog Dergview and move into fifth place in the NIFL Championship with just three games remaining.

Loughgall ...1

With 35 minutes on the clock Hoey sent Stefan McCusker the wrong way to score the only goal of the game. Dergview will now hope to end the season on a high but face a stiff task as they welcome recently crowned champions Warrenpoint Town this weekend, with home tie to promotion chasing Ballyclare the following week.

The home side almost got off to a nightmare start as with just 60 seconds gone Tommy Wray found space inside the area but he was foiled by the returning Gareth Buchanan.

The clearance was scrambled to the edge of the box, where Ryan Campbell pounced on the loose ball but his curling effort shaved the top of the crossbar and out for a goal kick.

Loughgall side soon found their composure and with 11 minutes on the clock Marcus Dallas floated a dangerous ball into the front post from a free-kick.

Andrew Hoey made a clever run to the near post but the former Glenavon youngster miscued his attempted effort and McCusker was relieved to safely collect the ball at his front post.

With 35 minutes gone the home side made the breakthrough. Marc McConnell made good progress down the flank and his cross was blocked by the hand of Dergview skipper Colin Robinson.

Hoey held his never and sent McCusker the wrong way to give the home side a huge boost before the interval.

However, the home side were nearly caught napping just three minutes later when the hard working Philip Wallace drifted in from the left flank but he fired the ball wide from a tight angle.

There was little to talk about in the second half as both teams made changes and the game never really managed to catch fire.

Dergview's chances were made much worse when Jude Ballard was dismissed for dissent by referee Andrew Davey.
