Ardstraw return to winning ways over Newbuildings

Thursday, 23 March 2017

ARDSTRAW returned to winning ways in the Northern Ireland Intermediate League after scoring three second-half goals to record a 4-1 victory over Newbuildings on Wednesday evening.

Robbie Godfrey opened the scoring for Gary Simpson's side in the first period but the hosts were pegged back before the half-time interval.

But, having lost to local rivals Strabane Athletic just four days previously, Ardstraw were determined to get three points on the board and they responded in the perfect manner by scoring three times after the break.

Nigel Boyd was the first name on the score-sheet after the restart, followed by further goals from Gary King and Lee Warnock.

Unfortunately, Boyd limped off injured with a hamstring injury in the final moments.

Ardstraw finish off their league campaign with a match against Oxford at Vaughan's Holm.
