Cracker of a Christmas Show

ALL roads led to the Ecclesville Centre, Fintona, on a dry but chilly Bank Holiday Tuesday for the Christmas Cracker Show. The organisers were delighted to be able to run this show, as in 2009 and 2010 the wintry weather conditions resulted in the cancelling of it on both occasions.
The show was a great success with over 100 competitors - including several from North Tyrone East Donegal - jumping Raymond Caldwell's inviting courses from 10am until 6pm! The spectators were entertained with great jump-offs and also fun novelty classes. The 'Run and Ride' pairs competition was won by Darren Preston, running, and Gillian Leitch, riding 'Bobby', and Ecclesville's version of the mini major class was very closely contested, with sisters Katie and Hannah Leonard just being pipped by Andrew Thompson and Aoife Owens.
The open classes were very exciting as several combinations made it through to the timed rounds. The 60cm class was won by Aoife Owens, riding 'Star'; the 80cm red ribbon went to Rachel Kiernan-O'Donnell and in the final class of the day, Georgia Waterson and 'Lenamore Lena' picked up the top place.
