THE third annual 'Lough 5' road race took place on Saturday and was dominated by Annadale Striders runners, who claimed the top three places on the podium.
The increasingly popular event, which was the last race of the Run West Series, attracted over 400 participants, but it was the three men from Belfast who proved hard to beat in Loughmacrory.
The winner on the day was Eddie McGinley, followed closely by clubmates, Paddy Hamilton, second, and Andrew Agnew, third. The best local finisher was Omagh Harrier, Stephen Duncan, who came fourth in a time of 25 minutes and 27 seconds, which was enough for him to win the male open category in the Run West Series.
Another Harrier, Conor Meyler, came home in 11th place in a time of 29 minutes and 42 seconds to secure the men's under-19 title in the series.
Pat McCrory, in a time of 30 minutes and 57 seconds, in 19th place, did enough to win the men's 40 and over category in the series, while Sara Moore completed a great year by running a time of 33 minutes and 40 seconds to win the junior female category.
Also claiming glory in her category was Patricia Campbell, running a time of 37.45 to clinch the female 40 and over title. And, despite not running on Saturday, Shane McGale clinched second place in the men's 40 category and Bernie O'Donnell did likewise in the female 40 section.
