Exciting gala draws large crowds at Riversdale

RIVERSDALE Leisure Centre, Strabane, recently hosted its annual Primary Schools Swimming Gala. Primary and post primary schools from throughout the Strabane District Council area and its neighbouring hinterland of east Donegal provided over four hours of highly entertaining competition.
The large crowd of teachers, parents and pupils attending witnessed an impressive array of swimming skills and individual commitment bringing the school swimming year to a fitting end.
Primary School Gala champions for 2010 were as follows: girls' back crawl, Rachel Devenney (St Mary's PS, Cloughcor); girls' breast stroke, Mary Browne (St Theresa's PS, Glebe); girls' front crawl, Mary Browne (St Theresa's PS, Glebe); boys' back crawl, Eoin Byrne (St Patrick's PS, Castlederg); boys' breast stroke, Eoighan Devine (St Joseph's PS, Glenmornan); boys' front crawl, Eoin Byrne (St Patrick's PS, Castlederg); team relay, St Mary's Boys' PS, Melmount, Strabane.
Post Primary School Gala champions for 2010 were as follows: girls' back crawl, Eimear Conway (Holy Cross College, Strabane); girls breast stroke, Jordan Henry (Holy Cross College, Strabane); girls' front crawl, Eimear Conway (Holy Cross College, Strabane); boys' back crawl, Ryan Devine (Holy Cross College, Strabane); boys' breast stroke, Regan Devine (Strabane Grammar School); boys' front crawl, Regan Devine (Strabane Grammar School); team relay, Holy Cross College, Melmount, Strabane.
Brian Devine and Vincent McCarron (event organisers) congratulated all the children who competed and made the gala the success it was.
