Swifts under-10s to thumbnail

SION Swifts coaching continues this Saturday on the astro-turf pitch in Melvin from 10am until 12noon for children aged from seven to 12 years old.
"Parents should ensure that children are dropped off and picked up inside the gates at Melvin. Players are not allowed sweets, fizzy lemonade or crisps in or around the astro-turf area. Players should wear astro-turf trainers and clothes suitable for the weather conditions. The fee is £2 per player per session. Newcomers always welcome," said a club spokesperson.
Coaching for under-sixes
Swifts coaching for kids aged four, five and six continues this Saturday in the indoor facility at Melvin. The session for kids aged under-five will be held from 10.15am until 11.15am, whilst the session for kids aged six will take place from 11.30am until 12.30pm. The fee is £1 per child per session. Parents should ensure that children bring a drink with them.
After-school coaching
Football continues on Wednesdays on the astro-turf pitch in Melvin from 5.30pm until 7pm for children aged from seven to 11 years old. The fee is £1.50 per child per session.
Football for beginners
The Swifts have recommenced a six-week indoor football initiative for children aged under-six in the indoor facility in Melvin from 5.30pm until 6.30pm on Wednesdays. The session is fully booked up.
Under-10 'Blitz'
Sion Swifts will take two under-10 (players born in 2000) teams to play in a Derry and District soccer blitz this Sunday at Magee Campus, Londonderry. Players should attend training on Saturday when they will be advised of selection.
Men's fitness training
The very popular men's fitness programme, organised by Melvin Community Sports Programme, continues on Mondays from 9pm until 10pm. The fee is £2 per person per session. Anyone interested in joining should contact Ryan Porter on 02871884340.
Swifts 'Night at the Races'
The Swifts are organising a 'Night at the Races' in order to raise funds for the club. The race night will be held in the Fir Trees in the fabulous 'Niche Bar' on Saturday, March 6.
The club is asking all patrons to support the event by sponsoring a race or purchasing a horse and we hope that the night will be well attended.

Coaching course
The club would like to congratulate the 10 Swifts coaches who completed their Level One coaching course on Sunday. The course was organised by Strabane District Council and was held over a two-week period.
Participants were required to complete a first aid course, a refereeing course, child protection training and a final assessment on delivering a coaching drill.
Each participant must now deliver six coaching sessions to attain their Level One certificate.
The Swifts coaches included Paul McNally, Angela Stevenson, David Parkhouse, Dave Tyrell, Sean Dudgeon, Dermot O'Brien, Thomas Gilbraith, Ryan Forsythe, Declan Gallagher and Paul Kelly.
Girls' Football
Training resumes tonight (Thursday) on the astro-turf pitch in Melvin from 6pm until 7pm, a fee of £1 is required. Girls should wear astro-turf trainers and clothes suitable for the weather conditions. Newcomers always welcome. We would advise girls to contact Melvin to make sure that the facility is playable, on 02871382660.
Swifts enter Irish FA indoor tournament
The Swifts have entered an Irish FA indoor tournament which will be held in the Valley Leisure Centre, Glengormley, this Sunday. The club will be represented at U10, U12 and U14 age groups.
Players must attend training tonight (Thursday), to receive travelling arrangements for Sunday.
Northern Ireland National Leagues
This weekends fixtures for Sion Swifts teams in the Northern Ireland National Leagues are as follows: Saturday, NIBFA Cup, under-12s, St Oliver Plunkett FC v Sion Swifts; NIBFA National League, under-15s, Sion Swifts v Linfield; Sunday, NIBFA National League, under-14s, Sion Swifts v Cliftonville; under-12s, St Oliver Plunkett FC v Sion Swifts.
