Strabane win signing of Guar thumbnailRachit Gaur

FORMER Railway Union all-rounder Rachit Gaur has signed for Strabane, despite interest from both St Johnston and Ardmore.

The Indian born cricketer came to Dublin to study, and has taken up employment in Letterkenny, and could be just the man that Tommy Barr's side needed.

He went straight into the squad for the long trip south to Cork County in the Irish Senior Cup.

After a difficult winter for the Red Caps there has been better news of late- first with the return of Ryan Gallagher and now with the addition of the more than useful Gaur.

He is highly rated by former Irish internationals Kevin O'Brien and Kenny Carroll who played with him at Park Avenue.

"He is a very decent opening bowler, middle order batsman, and excellent fielder who has a safe pair of hands" was their verdict.

Strabane could well be one of the few North West clubs who progress to the next round, and Gaur's addition could be a key factor in that.
