Thieves hit business four times in as many months thumbnail

A gang of heartless thieves have struck at a family-run Newtownstewart business for the fourth time in as many months leaving them wondering if they should open their doors ever again!
Police believe that entry was gained to The Rendezvous Bar premises on the town's Main Street sometime between 1am and 7am yesterday, (Tuesday) morning and a substantial sum of money taken.
The act has been condemned as "nothing short of thuggery' and an 'attack on the community' by local politicians.
Speaking yesterday morning, (Tuesday), family spokesman, Aaron Hempton, said they were distraught and distressed at what had happened a few hours earlier.
"It's already been a roller-coaster year for me and my mother. We had a break-in at Christmas time and we lost our father, Andrew, in January, so we didn't need this kind of thing coming on top of us now. All these things are taking a big toll on our mother, Carol. She can't face it today and has gone home to wonder if she can even open the place up again."
Mr Hempton added the robbers busted the door frame out of the actual wall.
"It has been sealed up after the last break-in. They busted their way through a stud wall into the bar area and pulled the safe out of the wall and managed to get the door off it. We still haven't a clue how they managed it because it's a really big old style, heavy duty safe. They took the contents of the safe and other money which was sitting at the bar that was for the Ardstraw FC weekly lotto. Their ticket money was there as their draw usually takes place on Monday night but because of it being a Bank Holiday weekend, the draw was put back until tonight (Tuesday)."
