Former Strabane Academy pupil receives ‘top candidate’ accolade at CCEA awards ceremony

THE spotlight was firmly on 85 local learners as they received recognition for their studies at the 2018 'Celebrate with CCEA' awards ceremony.
The Council for the Curriculum Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) welcomed more than 400 guests, including parents, principals and teachers, at the landmark Titanic Belfast to celebrate the outstanding achievements, dedication and commitment of the award winners in their CCEA examinations.
Fifty-six schools and colleges were represented at the ceremony with awards collected for 52 different CCEA qualifications.
Among them was Strabane Academy pupil, Amy Hepburn, who was recognised for being 'Top candidate for GCSE in Contemporary Crafts'.
A spokesperson for the school said they were delighted for Amy.
“Congratulations to former Strabane Academy pupil Amy Hepburn who recently attended the prestigious 'Celebrate with CCEA' awards ceremony, held at the Titanic Quarter, Belfast.
“Amy received her award for being the top student in Northern Ireland for GCSE Contemporary Crafts in June 2017.
“We are extremely proud of Amy and her art teachers, Mrs Kerr and Mrs Olphert," a statement posted by the school on their Facebook page read.
