Thursday, 8 March 2018

BUSINESSES in in Strabane have been urged to re-arrange their deliveries schedule in and around St Patrick's Day festivities so they don't clash with any of the events on March 17.

In a letter to all businesses in the town this week Jacqueline Whoriskey, festivals and events manager, Derry City and Strabane District Council, revealed the event will be centered on Butcher Street car park, Castle Street, Castle Place and the Alley Theatre.

"To facilitate the set up of the event, there will be a small number of diversions in place on Saturday, March 17, between 8am and 6pm. This will be directly around the event space with some impact on Dock Street, Railway Road, Lower Main Street, Main Street, Market Street and Abercorn Square for the parade. We will be issuing communications to the public via press and social media in advence to support ease of traffic control on the day," she stated.

Her letter added that if any of the businesses were on the affected roads, the council would appreciate if arrangements for deliveries could be made for the day before or before 12 noon on March 17.

"We urged you to take advantage of the increased footfall that will be in the area and also to consider arranging any deliveries for outside these hours. We look forward to welcoming a large number of visitors as they choose to experience Strabane's St Patrick's Day festival and embrace all that our town has to offer," she said.

Anyone with any wueries about the event should contact the events team on (028) 7125 3253.
