New Year delight as Liscloon Post Office set to re-open

Thursday, 21 December 2017

THERE'S been some positive news this week for people living in the wider area of Donemana with the announcement that the Post Office in Liscloon is to re-open.

The branch at Longland Road will resume trading in the New Year the network's Janese Sung has confirmed.

Detailing the decision to restore the service, Ms Sung, who is the Post Office network operations manager, said the rural facility will resume trading on Wednesday, January 3.

"The branch closed temporarily in November 2017 due to unforeseen circumstances and we are pleased to be able to reinstate the service, as a temporary measure, while we continue to seek a permanent solution," she explained.

"The new service will be operated from the same address as the previous service and will offer the same range of Post Office products and services as before."

Welcoming the development, councillor Patsy Kelly said it was "brilliant news" for customers.

Cllr Kelly, who sits on Derry City and Strabane District Council as an independent councillor said: "It's not often we hearing of services being resumed, especially in the rural areas, where services are being stripped left, right and centre.

"I have to welcome this. It is brilliant news that the Post Office has decided to re-open. When it closed a few months ago it was badly missed.

"It was a very busy Post Office and I'm sure those who utilised the service will be delighted to see it back."
