Delight for Aine as she is reunited with lost engagement ring thumbnailCastlederg woman, Aine Lynch, was delighted to be reunited with her lost engagement ring following a mass social media appeal.

A CASTLEDERG woman has been reunited with her prized engagement ring after losing it at a GAA match.

Aine Lynch was devastated when she emerged from last weekend's match between the Tyrone and Derry GAA teams only to find that her ring had somehow slipped off her finger. A capacity crowd of 8,500 had been at the game.

Believing that she had lost it either in the stadium or just outside, the local girl immediately took to social media networking sites to launch an appeal in her bid to locate the diamond ring.

Aided by family and friends - and strangers - her posts were shared thousands of times across the Facebook and Twitter platforms. The appeal was shared some 3,700 times.

Aine had even retraced her steps in the hope of finding the ring but to no avail. However, against all odds, two days after losing the precious piece, she was reunited with the ring thanks to an eagle-eyed woman who found it and posted her own appeal to trace the owner.

It was shared on former Foyle MLA., Pat Ramsey's page. The woman had found the ring on Beechwood Street just outside the Celtic Park stadium where Aine had watched the match.

The teacher was swiftly reunited with the jewellery and its now back where it belongs - on her finger along with her matching wedding ring.

Her story has shown the powers of social media. Speaking afterwards, the Derg woman took to Facebook to thank all those who had shared her appeal.

"My ring has been found!", she said, "I am so overwhelmed and amazed by every single person who has helped me this past few days.

"You have no idea how grateful I am. The shares, the messages and the help offered has shown me how good people can be."

She added: "And to the absolute angel who found my ring and got in touch, you are amazing! Thank you all so much!!"
