Foyle Food Group makes wishes come true for local children
Thursday, 16 February 2012
Nigel McIlwaine, group finance and human resources (HR) director of the Foyle Food Group and Leslie Otterson, group HR manager of the Foyle Food Group, present a cheque for £20,000 to Gail McKee, NI fundraising manager for the Make-A-Wish charity.
This year, local meat processor, Foyle Good Group, will help to make magical wishes come true for local children and young people who are fighting life-threatening conditions.
The Foyle Food Group employs approximately 750 employees across its five sites in Omagh, Londonderry, Donegal and Cookstown.
The company, now in its fourth decade, has the capacity to process over 200,000 cattle per year, supplying high quality beef products to the major supermarket multiples throughout Europe and beyond.
The Foyle Food Group has selected Make-A-Wish Foundation UK as their charity of choice for 2012 by donating £20,000 to this excellent charity in order to help local children and young people aged between three and 17 years old realise some of their dreams.
There are approximately 20,000 children and young people living in the UK with a life-threatening illness. Over the past 25 years, Make-A-Wish has granted more than 7,300 magical wishes, and this year an estimated 1,400 children will turn to Make-A-Wish to seek to have their special wish granted.
“This is a wonderful contribution that the Foyle Food Group has made to Make-A-Wish and it will go towards granting more of our magical wishes," enthused Gail McKee, fundraising manager for Northern Ireland.
